Now it is 2011 and the Cape Cod real estate market is still in terrible shape. Every street has several properties for sale and while sales are low, the prices are even lower. Seven years ago you could not purchase a one bedroom cottage near the water for under $200,000 - now those cottages are worth half that. Half million dollar homes are marked down like the junk in
second-hand stores. Taxes and fees are at all time highs while income and property values have fallen. Elderly people have not gotten even a penny increase in Social Security in TWO YEARS.... though they worked 40 or 50 years and paid ever increasing taxes in order to receive the shrinking 'benefit' that they get once a month.
